"Thunder Travelling to Distant Mountains"

For countless generations the Nimipu (Nez Perce) people roamed freely throughout vast expanses of the Pacific Northwest.

During winter months they lived along the lower rivers sheltered from harsh winter storms found in the higher elevations. With the spring snow melt they would separate into smaller bands, and with their vast herds of Appaloosa horses, they would move to the high mountain valleys, where food and green grass were abundant.

Lithography with a
Native American theme.

Size: 21" X 30"

Price: $77.00

The gathering of various roots was an important, festive springtime event.

The "land of winding waters" (the Wallowa Valley, of N.E. Oregon) was the heartland of Chief Joseph and the Wellamotkin band of Nimipu.

Nestled in the Wallowa's, we find their village as it was for so long, before the coming conflict with the Soyapu (White man) -- when they still lived their lives as free as an Eagle in the sky, and the circle of life flowed as a wild river traveling from distant mountains.

David Lundquist paints and sculpts on his ranch in Wallowa County, gaining inspiration from the strong wilderness spirit still found there.
